How to Unlock the Bootloader of Redmi/Xiaomi Devices


Xiaomi devices talking about them, they the best budget Android phones for the people with great specifications. This brand has the highest selling smartphones which are somewhat up to the mark. The MiUi which make it more unique that and Android devices.  These are the small beasts packed with high power.

Today we will see How to Unlock Bootloader of Redmi/Xiaomi Devices. Since this will allow you to make some Android system modifications, install factory image and Root your device.

Some benefits of unlocking Bootloader
  • The first and foremost reason to have an unlocked bootloader is the ability to flash the factory image.
  • It also gives you the ability to format, erase, and rewrite the current device partitions. So, if you want to restore stock firmware or flash existing partitions like recovery or boot (kernel), you will need to unlock the bootloader your devices.
  • If you are also keen on rooting and further customization, then unlocking the bootloader will ensure that your device is ready when the root and TWRP recovery arrive.

    How to Unlock the Bootloader of Redmi/Xiaomi Devices


    Step 1: Go to Settings > Accounts > Sign in with your Mi Account (If you don't have, create one because you need this compulsorily).

    Step 2: Now go to the official page of Mi for requesting the unlock permission link:- Official Mi Unlock Page. Then click on the Unlock Now button. On the next page Sign in with your Mi account details.



    Step 3. Now, fill the details like Name, Mobile number etc.. and click on Apply Now button and verify the OTP that will be sent to your mobile number and click on Next button. Now, wait till your request gets approved you will receive a confirmation SMS on mobile.

    Note: Due to slow servers it will take 2-10 days.

    Step 4: When you have the confirmation SMS, Connect your device via USB cable to PC and open the Mi Flash tool. Now sign in to your Mi account (You will see No device connected).



    Step 5: Power off your device and boot into Fastboot mode by

    Holding Power off + Volume Down button simultaneously for 2-3sec.

    Step 6: Once your device is in Fastboot mode, connect it to PC via USB cable (Now you can see Device connected).

    Step 7: Now click on Unlock button and done.

    Congratulations! You have successfully Unlocked the Bootloader of your Redmi device.
